Unfortunately, our kitten, “Cutie” passed away last week. We only had her for about 2 months, and we got her when she was only a week or so old, so we were really sad that she didn’t make it. She seemed really healthy, but one night got very sick. We took her to the Vet, and they put her under observation, gave her some medication, and thought she was getting better, but she suddenly took a turn for the worse. In the end, we had her put to sleep so she could avoid a pretty painful death.
Aaron originally found Cutie when she was just a tiny kitten, small enough to rest in the palm of your hand without hanging over. He basically rescued her from a pretty certain death at that time. He was really broken up at this unforeseen event when she had to be put to sleep.

We just returned from a short vacation to Northern Mindanao. Mindanao is the island that we live on. Basically, we had not visited the northern part of the island before, so it was almost all new scenery for us to visit.

This photo was taken at the Port of Balingoan, Misamis Oriental
We visited a lot of different places from the seashore to the mountains of central Mindanao. It was a fun trip, we all had a good time! Although we were only gone for 3 days, we were all tired by the time we returned home!

We made a visit today to the Davao Butterfly House, which is located at the Riverfront Complex in Maa, Davao City. It’s really a nice area that also has a Crocodile Park, River Walk and other such attractions. We had visited the Crocodile Park in the past, so we decided to have a look at the Butterfly House today, which is fairly new.

Here is Feyma with the kids at the Davao Butterfly House
It was awfully hot there today (which is why we didn’t go see the crocodiles after the butterflies), but the butterflies were pretty spectacular. We all enjoyed seeing them!

Here is a nice red butterfly at the Butterfly House

Here is a brown butterfly which we saw there

And, here is a shot of Bob & the kids while visiting the Davao Butterfly House
All I can really say is that we really had a great day! It’s always fun taking the kids someplace new and watching them explore.

Today, Feyma and I went for a day trip out to The Island Garden City of Samal, commonly called “IGACOS”. We really had a great time! We went there with our friends, Maej and Mandy. Maej and Mandy are a really great couple whom we met recently, and we really enjoyed their company.

Maej and Mandy had been telling us of a nice beach resort on Samal Island called “Chema’s by the Sea” and we really wanted to visit the place. Chema’s is not open for “walk in” traffic. In order to visit, you have to know the owner, and sort of “get his approval” to go there. Mandy is a friend of Quincho, the owner of the resort, so he was able to get our visit approved. We really liked Chema’s a lot, and now that we know the owner, we are sort of on the “approved” list ourselves! Can’t wait to go back and stay overnight.

Chema’s has a beautiful Infinity Pool right on the beach, it’s really gorgeous! I didn’t swim today, but it was really inviting!

Another highlight of the day was when we visited the IGACOS Bat Caves. There are literally millions of bats inside caves in the ground. You can’t really go down into the caves, but what you can do is to view the bats from openings in the caves above the ground. If you catch yourself on the wrong side of the wind, the smell of the bats is very strong, so watch out for that!
All in all, it was another super day here in paradise! Come and visit us, we’ll make sure you have a great time!

Today, I did a little work on this blog, and added about 100 different photos into a little application that will rotate them for viewing at the top right of each page of the blog. So, each time you refresh the page, or go to a different page on this blog, you will see a different photo of myself, the kids or Feyma.
I hope you like it!

On a recent trip through Agusan del Sur Province, I saw these big piles of fruit along the sides of the road. I realized that Agusan del Sur is Palm Oil country… they grow special trees that produce this kind of Palm Oil fruit. I am holding one pod of fruit in this photo. After harvesting the fruit is crushed and the result is Palm Oil, which is a cooking oil. After putting this pod down, I squeezed one piece and the oil just oozed all over my hands. Quite interesting!
Thanks to my friend, Gene Wilson for snapping this photo with my camera.

This is our new kitten, her name is “Cutie”. Cutie just showed up at our house one day, on the sidewalk outside our gate. She showed up just as Aaron got home from school, and being the animal lover that he is, he took her right in. Now, he says that he is the Dad of Cutie, and I am the Grandpa. As you can see, Cutie is fast asleep in this photo. We’ve had her for less than a month, and she has tripled in size!

Things are going well for us here in Davao City. We are always staying busy, and that is good.
As for me, I have kind of changed gears a bit. Over the past couple of years I have been so focused on my web stores (WowPhilippines, GeeYourHairSmellsTerrific and others) that I haven’t taken time for too much else. Well, now, I am shifting my focus more toward earning money through accepting advertisers on my websites. Of course, I will be keeping the various stores up and running, but they have reached a level of maturity where I don’t have to stay on top of every little detail any longer. I have a good staff of people who can take care of those things. My supervisor for our companies is Gladys, and she is excellent. I rely on her a lot, and is very reliable.
So, basically now, with my many websites, I am beginning to accept advertising, and publishing it on my sites. It is my hope that after a period of time, I can generate as much income from the advertising as I do from the stores. If I can make that happen, I will be very happy. And, I don’t see why I can’t do it. I have friends who are doing more business than that just from advertising, so I should be able to do it too. Right now, I have two different Ad Agencies who are placing their ads on my websites, and I am interested adding a third agency soon. With the three that I have in mind, that will be a pretty complete set of ad placement agencies, and I will feel that it is then my job to maximize the results as best I can. I am placing the ads on my stores, and on blogs like this one. I have several blogs that have gained a good amount of popularity, so they should be very good sources of ad revenue. We’ll see.
One of the blogs that I am just getting started, and am excited about is the Mindanao Photo Blog, where I publish pictures that I have taken around the island of Mindanao. I have always been interested in Photography, and this blog allows me the opportunity to publish some of my photographs. In the long run, I plan to set up a store on that site and sell digatal images from the store. It will be an interesting experiment.
Feyma has been busy too. She is involved in a number of different things right now. First, she is getting ready for Christmas, which is coming up quickly. She has been doing some shopping for a couple of months already, but still has some more to do. Also, we are planning to move to a new house later this month, so Feyma is sort of “in charge” of all that. We are actually moving back to a house next door to where we used to live! That is in the Marfori Heights neighborhood. We really like that area, as it is very convenient to so many things in Davao. We like it here in Woodridge, but unfortunately, there are many things wrong with this house, and the landlord has no money! So, he can’t fix the problems! Because of all this, I feel like I am paying for a Cadillac (this is one of the nicest houses in Davao, and it is pretty expensive), yet they are providing me with a Volkswagen Bug. The house where we are moving is similar in size to the house where we live now, yet it is half the price! We are excited about the move.
The kids are doing well. School is keeping them very busy, as normal.
This weekend, Feyma and I will be going to Cagayan de Oro City, which is on the other side of the island. It is about a 7 or 8 hour drive from here. A friend, Ray Childs and his wife, from the States is in the area, and we will meet up there for a get together. Maybe we’ll do some shopping or something, and just have a good visit, I hope. Aaron will be coming along with us too. So that will be an adventure, and will give me a lot of photo taking opportunities along the way.
Thanks for visiting our blog! Also, be sure to visit our photo gallery for the latest family photos. Here is a link to the October Photos that we’ve posted. We have a new puppy, which you’ll see in the photos!
